Achieving online security is boring. It's a tedious and laborious process that requires constant vigilance. And it's the most important thing we do on behalf of our clients.

In 2009 Green Island partnered with Dublin-based e-security company VigiTrust (www.vigitrust.com) to ensure the Site Caddy platform provides our clients with the highest standards of security. The PCI Standard is set by the Payment Card Industry (Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, etc.) and demands a truly vigilant effort to achieve compliance. It includes requirements for:

• Both hardware and software measures
• Penetration tests of all hardware and software
• Staff training
• Full evaluation and documentation of all processes and procedures
• And much more… it’s quite exhaustive!

But by achieving PCI compliance, Green Island is confident in offering Irish Golf Clubs a verifiably secure system, protecting sensitive club data, e-commerce transactions, and member information from unauthorised access.

Of course the system is only as sage as the people authorised to use it. Green Island will also work with club staff to help them understand issues such as:

• The importance of strong passwords
• The dangers of sharing accounts
• Common security mistakes, such as believing that e-mail or WiFi systems are secure

And we can even arrange separate training from our partners at VigiTrust if Castle Golf Club feels it might be beneficial.
